the last sundowner.wmv Video Clips. Duration : 4.45 Mins.
This has been my year + long project reworking the Moki 210 engine into a high RPM nitro breathing monster for the Hangar 9 80" Sundowner. I own a firearms manufacturing business with a full CNC machine shop. All work has been done here with help from my "crew chief" David. He's the airframe guy and I'm the engine man. First flights resulted in some issues with the wings. Had some "reverse washout" on the starboard side. Took lots of trim to make it behave. I've rebuilt the wings and glassed them. Just have to fit the surfaces and then its off to the paint booth for color. First time out I had a 650cc Tettra Tank. Gave me about 8 minutes of flight time with 15% Powermaster fuel. Spiking my home brew to 50% cut it back to about 6 minutes. Way, way too much for a speed/race/test plane. I've cut it back now to a 16oz tank. Gives me about 2 minutes in the air on 50%. Just enough for 6 laps and a deadstick. (USRA Rules eventhough it's no longer an official class) Maiden almost resulted in a total loss. I had my rates set very conservatively. Even still it snapped and knifed edge spun for at least 100 ft before I got it gathered back up. Now the elevators are set to 4.5* for race rates, 6* for landing. Knife edging the trailing surfaces, buring the hinges, and setting the CG way back makes it a very responsive airplane at speed. It's still a handful on the dead sticks though. Flies like a rock with no power. At speed she's a blast. Turns well, and with the addition of the ...

"Touched by an angel" Video Clips. Duration : 0.50 Mins.
www.flickr.com A mother, whose daughter was fighting for her life, believes that a photograph taken in a hospital ward shows an angel. Colleen Banton, from Charlotte, North Carolina, was facing the agonizing decision of taking her daughter off a life-support machine when the 'miracle' occurred. 14-year-old Chelsea had been admitted to the hospital with pneumonia, but a series of subsequent infections and a collapsed lung left the teenager breathing with the help of a ventilator. As friends and family gathered to say their final goodbyes, Mrs Banton was alerted to an unusual bright light by a nurse. 'On the monitor, there was this bright light,' she said. 'And I looked at it and I said, "Oh my goodness! It looks like an angel!"' A first attempt at capturing the image with a digital camera was unsuccessful: 'The first picture wouldn't take,' she said. The second time she succeeded, and the mother-of-two sought solace in the image while her daughter's oxygen mask was removed. My thoughts. Oh that's nice the daughter was most likely to die, but her mother looked at a picture instead. 'When they took the mask off of her, her stats went as high as they've ever been,' said Mrs Banton. 'Her color was good, and the doctors and nurses were amazed. The nurse practitioner who saw the image in the monitor said, "I've worked here 15 years, and I've never seen anything like it.''' My thoughts. How about the body did what it was supposed to do and defeated the pneumonia?

Congresswoman May Owe Life to Luck and 'Battlefield Lessons' Tube. Duration : 4.05 Mins.
I'mAlex Villarreal with the VOA Special English Health Report, from voaspecialenglish.com | http On January eighth in Tucson, Arizona, a gunman opened fire on a small crowd meeting outdoors with a congresswoman. Six people were killed and fourteen were wounded, including the representative, Gabrielle Giffords. The bullet traveled along the left side of her brain as it went in one side of her head and came out the other. Doctor Leigh Vinocur is a nationally known expert in emergency medicine. She says the path that the bullet took was lucky for the forty-year-old congresswoman. On January eleventh doctors said Representative Giffords was breathing without the aid of a machine. But she remained in critical condition. Doctor Vinocur praised the college intern who gave the congresswoman first aid. Daniel Hernandez had trained in high school as a nurse's assistant. But Doctor Vinocur says people have to be extra careful about putting pressure on bleeding head wounds. She said you can put pressure on the scalp to reduce the bleeding. But you want to be careful to make sure you're not pushing brain tissue or pieces of bone or metal back in through the hole. Doctor Peter Rhee, trauma chief at the University Medical Center in Tucson, says he expects Representative Giffords to survive. She has been following simple commands, like moving her toes, squeezing a hand and giving the thumbs-up sign. But no one knows yet how well she might recover. Doctors have temporarily removed about ...

Do you ever feel a shortness of breath from simply walking up a flight of stairs? Would you like to gain better lung stamina during vigorous workouts? Now, thanks to the Ultrabreathe, you can relieve the symptoms of breathlessness by giving your lungs a daily workout from the comfort of the armchair. Just inhale through Ultrabreathe for a few minutes twice a day in a simple breathing pattern as shown in the instructions. Ultrabreathe works on the principle of resistance. As you inhale, the resistance created makes your respiratory muscles work harder, and the harder they work the stronger and more durable they become. As your breathing power improves, Ultrabreathe can be gradually adjusted to provide more resistance with just the twist of a knob. It can even help reduce the feeling of breathlessness from some lung diseases such as asthma, bronchitis and emphysema. Doctors have been prescribing big, bulky breathing devices for post-surgery patients to increase their lung power for years. Ultrabreathe gives you the same effects, but is so small and compact you can take it with you to exercise your lungs wherever you are. Whether you¿re exercising for cardio fitness, sports or not at all, you¿ll breathe deeper and more easily than ever. Within a month you will be on your way to feeling the wonderful effects of strong, healthy lungs!
Athletes who want to boost their performance and folks who suffer from breathlessness can all benefit from using this ingenious breathing exerciser. Here’s how it works: after positioning the soft mouthpiece between the teeth and gums and biting down to create an airtight seal, the user breathes in sharply and continues to breathe in hard for as long as possible. Then the breath is slowly exhaled. When repeated 25 times, twice daily, for at least a month, the exercises should noticeably increase breathing strength. As improvement occurs, the user can increase resistance by simply turning one or both parts of the device: the end cap (which holds a lightweight ball) and the valve sleeve. Measuring 5 by 2 by 1-1/4 inches, the Ultrabreathe is so compact it will fit in a pocket or travel kit for use at work, in bed, or on the road. --Ann Bieri

Harvey, whose debut collection was praised by the New Yorker as "intensely visual, mournfully comic and syntactically inventive," offers her second stunning collection
Units are the engines I understand best.
One betrayal, two. Merrily, merrily, merrily. -from "Introduction to the World"
In Sad Little Breathing Machine, Matthea Harvey explores the strange and intricate mechanics of human systems-of the body, of thought, of language itself. These are the engines, like poetry, that propel both our comprehension and misunderstanding. "If you're lucky," Harvey writes, "after a number of / revolutions, you'll / feel something catch."
"I pictured myself arriving at an amusement park, only none of the rides are familiar. I considered running away. I could break my neck or be catapulted into the sky. I might never be seen again. It's only poetry, I reminded myself, and climbed on board. I'm tossed and bucked and jabbed and lashed and flipped. I'm having a nearly insane amount of fun, and I don't want it to ever end."--James Tate
